The Creative Futures Career Showcase is a program series that highlights working professionals who have found unique careers that utilize their art education and/or creative talents. Speakers will share their journey, wealth of experience, career advice, and present their portfolio of past and recent work. Anyone interested in hearing how these creative professionals found their niche in different areas of business or would like to gain insight into their careers can attend.
John Durbin is an animator at Reel F/X - Flight School Studios. Previously, he was an Animation Supervisor at Moonbot Studios in Shreveport, LA. He moved to Shreveport from Dallas to work on a short film called The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore, which won an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film in 2011. Although animation is his primary area of expertise, he is well-versed in the pre/post production process – from writing to the final edit. He has a special affinity for 2-D animation and motion graphics. He attended Texas State Technical College - West Texas.
Durbin is also a musician, sound designer, and part-time DJ. He loves synthesizers, turntables, amplification, and Ableton Live.
