SUMMARY:Unstable Ground: Landscape\, Memory\, and the Shifting Self - Group Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Unstable Ground: Landscape\, Memory\, and the Shifting Self – Group Exhibition \nExhibition Dates: June 16 – 27 \nReception: June 26\, 6p – 8p \nPublic Artist Talk: June 18\, 7:30p – 8:30p \nOpen Hours: by appointment \n  \nExhibition Statement: \nUnstable Ground brings together four Dallas-based artists working through photography\, installation\, and material exploration to consider landscape as an unstable\, layered\, and ever-changing phenomenon. The works point to the landscape as a construct through memory\, perception\, and lived experience. Personal archives\, sculptural works\, and still images serve as ways of holding on to and questioning the landscape. Unstable Ground considers how we come to understand our constantly evolving environment as we ourselves change within it. \n  \nIncluded Artists: \nLauren E. Allen \nJordan Funk \nKim Wasson Eagan \nVahid Valikhani \n  \nCurator Bio: \nVahid Valikhani is a photographer and documentary filmmaker and serves as Director of the Beatrice M. Haggerty Gallery at the University of Dallas. \nHis creative practice examines environmental and social conditions across both familiar and unfamiliar landscapes. Through the integration of landscape and portraiture\, he explores how representations of place and people collectively construct meaning\, illuminating the cultural and political forces that shape one another. He is the author of the monograph Nebraska\, Tampa: The Return to the Streets (Tavaali Publication\, 2025). His work has been exhibited internationally in Germany\, Italy\, Iran\, and the United States. \n  \nInstagram: @_vahid_vv\, @kimwassoneagan\, @leallen_art\, @jordan_nicole_funk

SUMMARY:She Hunts at Night - Solo Exhibition by Lauren Fleniken
DESCRIPTION:She Hunts at Night – Solo Exhibition by Lauren Fleniken \nExhibition Dates: June 16 – 27 \nReception: June 26\, 6p – 8p \nOpen Hours: June 18 12p-5p and by appointment \n  \nExhibition Statement: \nMy work explores the body\, intimacy\, and how the feminine body retains and responds to sexual trauma. In the vast majority of cases\, the perpetrator is known to the victim. I focus on the psychological and sexual trauma done to the feminine when the hunter is someone who was closer\, and the emotional response that muddies the lines between love\, lust\, and violence. I use mythology of the American South and elements of my upbringing combined with a romantic\, lacy exterior to discuss these contradicting feelings. A need for intimacy\, a need to be seen\, and what being taken advantage of does to not only heighten these feelings\, but to cause sex to become a form of self-harm and addiction. The space is transformed with elements of a country side home- a rawhide rug\, a tableside lamp\, a dimly lit TV. Many of these countryside elements utilize all parts of the Buffalo\, once a deer is hunted and harvested. The skin and flesh of a hunted deer is never wasted. Pink tones define a hyperfeminine surreal set stage\, set in between nowhere and now\, with spotlights that show nothing is really unseen in the dark. I rely on self portraiture to convey vulnerability and the battles we have with ourselves\, our identities\, and our bodies. Through my work\, I aim to open conversation on how the perfect victim does not exist\, and how the hypersexualized femme is viewed\, and consequently views herself. \n  \nArtist Bio: \nLauren Fleniken is a multimedia artist living and working in Dallas\, TX. She grew up in Montague\, TX\, and spent childhood back and forth between visual and performing art. She received her BFA in Painting from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth\, and has recently become an alumni from the Cedars Union Cohort 4 in Dallas. She is a 2025 recipient of the Clare Hart Degolyer Memorial Fund. She has shown in various galleries such as Zeke’s Projects\, Zona7\, The Adolphus\, and Arts Fort Worth. Her work has been featured in online publications such as Glasstire and Patron Magazine. Fleniken currently resides as an artist in the Tin District. \n  \nInstagram: @l.m.flen.art

SUMMARY:Art\, Research\, and Narrative w/ Atinuke Osibogun-Adeleke
DESCRIPTION:Open to the public \n  \nJoin us for an artist lecture led by artist and jeweler\, Atinuke Adeleke. Centered on the convergence of studio practices and conceptual exploration\, Atinuke will share her concepts\, her making process\, and her art’s connection to personal narrative. Half artist bio and half informative methods in research\, this lecture centers on her lived experience as a Nigerian who has traversed three continents and how it feeds into the crafting of her work. \n  \nAtinuke Osibogun-Adeleke is an interdisciplinary artist and a graduate of the University of North Texas. As the owner and lead designer of the home and body adornment brand\, Zuri Perle\, she channels her artistic vision into captivating creations that blend tradition with innovation. \nHer artistic practice revolves around themes of personal history\, connection\, and identity\, reflecting her journey as a Nigerian who has traversed three continents. Atinuke’s work explores the deconstruction\, reassembly\, and hybridization of her identity through sculpture and fiber pieces. These creations seamlessly integrate the traditional culture and practices of her homeland\, Nigeria\, with western woodworking techniques and modern processes such as CAD\, 3D printing\, and CNC routing.
