This month\, we’re joined by Danielle Naylor\, our Director of Operations at The Cedars Union and the Art Fair Director for Texas Vignette. Danielle will guide you through best practices\, formatting tips\, and what galleries and institutions look for. Learn how to effectively highlight your achievements\, exhibitions\, education\, and skills to best market yourself and track your accomplishments. Perfect for artists at any stage of their career looking to refine their CV. \nDanielle Naylor is an art museum educator\, programmer\, and administrator living and working in the DFW. Naylor currently works as the Director of Operations at The Cedars Union\, where she manages the organization’s daily operations and oversees its programs and artist-related communications. She also sits on the board of Texas Vignette as the Art Fair Director. Since joining Vignette in 2019\, she has overseen two annual art fairs\, a pop-up\, and assisted with the development and implementation of the online sales platform. \nWith a passion for building connections between people and art\, Naylor is an experienced educator in both museum and gallery settings\, teaching young children to adults. For over 10 years\, she has worked throughout the US creating educational and interpretive material and managing education departments in addition to teaching. In October 2017\, she assisted in the opening of The Museum of Street Culture. Naylor received her MA in Art Education\, with a focus on Museum Education\, in 2016 from the University of North Texas. She received a BA in Art History from UNT in 2013.

DESCRIPTION:Free for CU Members | $35 tickets for public\, Public register HERE! \n\nJoin us for a workshop on creating your own black and white linocut prints! This hands-on session will cover everything from material basics to carving techniques\, press setup\, and printing methods. You’ll start by learning how to prep a linoleum block and the tools used for carving\, then design and carve your own block. \nOnce your block is ready\, you’ll receive instructions on setting up and operating the press\, as well as hand printing methods so you can continue to print in your own studio space. The workshop will also include guidance on safely working in our shared studio and familiarize you with the array of printmaking materials and tools at your disposal. \nLeading the workshop is our knowledgeable Programs Manager\, Taylor\, who holds an MFA in printmaking from the University of North Texas. Taylor will provide hands-on instruction throughout the process\, ensuring you gain a solid understanding of both the artistic and technical aspects of the printing process. \nPerfect for beginners or experienced artists\, you’ll leave with your own hand-printed edition of 6 prints. All materials are included!

Studios are designed without doors and with low walls in order to encourage collaboration\, community\, and visibility. Though “micro\,” The Cedars Union facilities provide additional shared workspace for all members to use. \nHaving a personal studio at The Cedars Union is an experience designated for our incubator\, or Cohort program. Becoming a Cohort artist at The Cedars Union places you in a year-and-a-half program with 14 other peers\, chosen by an outside jury to ensure commitment to artistic practice and diversity in experience\, media\, and background. Applicants request a studio size and upon acceptance enter an 18 month lease commitment. After completing the 18 month “incubation”\, artists move out and a new cohort is selected.
