Mound & Monolith is a solo exhibition by artist Mcat Davis featuring paintings on felt fabric and sculptural works that explore the mysterious and imposing presence of hills, mounds, and monumental landforms.
Through an interplay of soft materials, abstract shapes, and sculptural forms, Davis examines the tension between the natural and the constructed, the familiar and the unknown. Hills and mounds emerge as both physical landmarks and enigmatic symbols—suggesting ancient histories, hidden worlds, and the quiet power of the landscape.
Blurring the boundaries between painting and sculpture, Mound & Monolith invites viewers to consider these forms not simply as features of the earth, but as vessels of memory, mystery, and imagined significance.
