Becoming a Community Member at The CU is perfect for those who need access to tools and workshops and want to stay connected with other artists but do not need micro-studio space. Applicants are accepted year-round.

    Community Artist Memberships receive many of the benefits of a Studio Artist, but instead work in the shared workspaces without a personal studio while being part of the artist community. Community Membership applicants are accepted year round.

    • 24/7 Artist Access To:
      • A fabrication lab with tools and equipment including a Juki industrial sewing machine, basic photography lighting, projector, a letterpress, small etching press, workspace tables on casters, easels, and more
      • A wet lab with a slop sink and oily waste bin
      • A woodshop with a scroll saw, table saw, and vertical band saw
      • Two tech labs including a PC station, a Mac station, vinyl cutter, plotter, 3D printer, and more
      • Access to professional meeting and event spaces and a shared kitchen
      • 20% discount on all ticketed events
      • Regular demos and workshops on facility and tools
      • Member critiques
      • Field trips and CU social events
      • Annual All-Members Show (if active during the exhibition)

      Membership Rates

      The community membership is $80 a month for a 6 month lease or $100 for a single month. Students one year out of school will receive one month free in a 6 month lease. All Community Members must undergo shop safety training.
