Community members:

Becoming a Community Member at The CU is perfect for those who need access to tools and workshops and want to stay connected with other artists but do not need micro-studio space. Applicants are accepted year-round.
    • 24/7 artist access to:
    • A fabrication lab with tools and equipment including a Juki industrial sewing machine, basic photography lighting, a letterpress, workspace tables on casters, easels, and more
    • A wet lab with a slop sink and oily waste bin
    • A woodshop with a scroll saw, table saw, and vertical band saw
    • Two tech labs including a PC station, a Mac station, vinyl cutter, plotter, 3D printer, and more

    • Access to professional meeting and event spaces and a shared kitchen
    • 20% discount on all ticketed events
    • Regular training on facility and tools
    • Regular field trips and CU social events
    Membership Rates
    The community membership is $80 a month for a 6 month lease or $100 for a single month. Students one year out of school will receive one month free in a 6 month lease. All Community Members must undergo shop safety training.

    Studio artist members:


    Becoming a Studio Artist at The CU is a great way to get affordable micro-studio space and access to tools, programs, and workshops. Applicants are accepted through a juried process and must have a BFA, MFA, or three years of studio experience.

    *All of our studios are currently occupied but we would love for you to apply for our juried waitlist. To be considered for spaces opening up in Spring 2020, please apply by Saturday, November 30th.

    Studio Artist Members receive all benefits given to Community Members in addition to:

    • Listed on CU website with link
    • Studio exposure during studio tours
    Lease Rates
    Studio Artist benefits are only active during studio lease.
    • 9 month leases – $1.50 sq. ft.
    Studio artist members may renew their lease 1 time for a total of 18 months.

    Studio Sizes
    • 8′ x 8′ (64 sq. ft.) – 6 studios
    • 10′ x 12′ (120 sq. ft.) – 2 studios
    • 8′ x 16′ (128 sq. ft.) – 4 studios
    • 10′ x 20′ (200 sq. ft.) – 3 studios
