Analise Minjarez
Analise Minjarez (1990, El Paso, TX) is an interdisciplinary artist whose work hinges on material transformation and the healing realization that the human–nature relationship is not singular. With sensitivity to light, material, and site, she pays close attention to nature to better understand her connection to Place. As a Texas/Mexico fronteriza, a borderland perspective
remains central to her conceptual thinking.
Minjarez engages with material meaning through ceramics, drawing, textiles, video, and installation, with each medium tracing her connection to nature. Her responses to materials and their embedded meanings can be overwhelming at times. Often in tune with shifts in seasons, light, and moisture, she continues to adapt and respond to the sensations that emerge through material connection. She plays with tension or seeks release through material pairing in each piece. Her studio practice exists both as a physical space and as a set of sensations shaped by her relationship to material and place.
She received her M.F.A. (2022) from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, and her B.F.A. (2013) in Fibers from the University of North Texas in Denton. She has taught classes at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, the Latino Cultural Center, and SAY Sí. Minjarez has exhibited work at the Infinite School in Los Angeles, CA, and Sweet Pass Sculpture Park in
Dallas, TX. Most recently, she was awarded the 2024 Nasher Artist Grant at the Nasher Sculpture Center
