2021 ART AND EQUITY AWARDS

Deadline November 9th

To help broaden racial equity within the arts industry and to live out our mission & values, The Cedars Union is beginning an Art & Equity Initiative that is designed to specifically support BIPOC (Black Indigenous, People of Color) and ALAANA (African, Latinx, Asian, Arab, and Native American) artists by providing three artist membership awards -- two Community Memberships and one Studio Artist Membership.

2021's Art and Equity Awards will offer three awards. Two artists will be granted a one-year funded Community Membership, giving 24/7 access to CU facilities to make work, form connections, and receive support and training from our program. One artist will receive a one-year funded Studio Artist Membership, providing the above benefits in addition to an 8x8 sf private studio space. Memberships will begin January 2nd, 2021 and end January 2nd, 2022. Applicants will have the option for their application to apply for only the Community Membership, only the Studio Membership, or both. Please do not apply twice to be considered for both types of award. To learn more about the benefits included in our membership, please visit our "join" page.

Due to the inequitable disparities and biases (economically, racially, professionally) held within supremacists systems, this opportunity will be for the professional advancement of BIPOC & ALAANA artists only. We encourage all levels of practitioners 18 and older to apply.

Using the Slideroom portal below, please submit five images, a bio, and a statement of interest by November 9th at 11:59pm. Letters of recommendation are optional. Applicants will be juried by The Cedars Union Committee for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access and will be notified in early December of their acceptance.
