Aileen Khuu, Jordan Funk, and Gwen Meharg partnered to present “Beneath the Surface,” a group exhibition taking place in the Lightwell Room of The Boedeker Building.

“Beneath the Surface” examines rocks as witnesses to time, transformation, and endurance. Rocks and humanity are formed through the convergence of minerals, pressure, and time, embodying processes unfolding outside the scope of a human lifespan. Despite their complex histories, rocks are objects we frequently overlook. Their quiet presence reflects how many human experiences go unseen or undervalued. Just as a rock’s true complexity goes beyond what appears on its surface, people carry layered histories shaped by experiences that are not always visible. By bringing attention to these rocks, “Beneath the Surface” invites viewers to slow down and reconsider what is not immediately visible.
