Finance 101 for Artists w/ Curtis Tran

Open to the public
Join us for an informational presentation on how to better balance your artistic practice with business. CU partner and finance professional, Curtis Tran, will walk you through these major topics:
- Taxes matter: Understand how income is taxed and how retirement accounts like 401(k)s, IRAs, and Roth accounts can help reduce or defer taxes.
- Debt management: Keep debt payments under control, ideally housing and debt at or below 36 percent of income, and avoid high interest debt.
- Investing early: Take advantage of compound growth. The earlier you start, the more time your money has to multiply.
- Diversification: Spread investments across different asset classes
- Protect what you build: Use insurance such as life, health, disability, and long term care to shield against unexpected financial setbacks.
