Maxwell Pius

Maxwell Pius is a self-taught printmaker native to Dallas, Texas. While being a graphic designer by trade, Pius has carried his stratified approach into the tactile medium of printmaking. Pius has found the best way to create is through continual experimentation; using a wide range of printmaking processes and even creating his own tools to bring his ideas to life. His practice primarily revolves around repetition and rhythmic patterns in everyday items, organisms, and interactions. Pius earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Design with minors in Art History and Marketing, from the University of North Texas. Here, Pius began to branch out in the printmaking community and joined the student-run organization P.A.N.T.S. (Printmaking Association of North Texas Students). Pius quickly became an active member of the student organization, serving as their elected treasurer for three and a half years. During his time with P.A.N.T.S., he led workshops and orientations, designed promotional materials and print exchange packaging, organized club trips, and developed printmaking skills that continue to inform his practice today.
