HYPERLOCAL V Reception @ Atelier

From October 31st to November 25th, join the Cedars Union in a presentation of artworks created by their current artist-in-residence, Cohort V. Juried by Jessica Fuentes, Editor-in-Chief of Glasstire, HYPERLOCAL V is an expansive display of art created by 18 artist intersecting a variety of practices including painting, printmaking, ceramics, photography, literature, and many more.
About the curator:
Jessica Fuentes is a writer and arts professional whose work spans art criticism, art education, and culture, appearing in Hyperallergic, The Brooklyn Rail, Southwest Contemporary, and scholarly journals including the Journal of Museum Education and the Art Education Journal. As the Editor-in-Chief of Glasstire, an online magazine dedicated to Texas art, Fuentes contributes reviews, opinion pieces, artist profiles, and interviews, and manages the publication’s contributors. In 2023, she received The Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant to support a series of articles highlighting Texas art spaces founded by artists of color, and in 2025, she received a Rabkin Foundation Travel Grant.
In addition to her roles as Editor-in-Chief at Glasstire and Director of Kinfolk House—a community art space founded by Sedrick and Letitia Huckaby in Fort Worth—Fuentes is deeply engaged in the local art scene. She serves on the Fort Worth Art Commission, the DFW Airport’s public art advisory panel, and the board of Make Art with Purpose (MAP).
About the Cedars Union Cohort program:
As a nonprofit arts incubator, The Cedars Union is dedicated to connecting North Texas’s brightest creative talent with essential resources such as tools, workspace, training, and community. The 18-month, juried Cohort Program provides selected artists with studio space and offers access to shared spaces and resources, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for all artists. Currently, The Cedars Union is in the fifth iteration of the Cohort Program. The Cohort program seeks to facilitate community, professional development, and educational opportunities while supplying artists with the foundational tools to build and further their careers as artists in the DFW area.
